Presentation basics

As my journey out here to sunny SF (for bsidesSF and  the RSA conference), starts I want to post some presentation basics that few people remember:

1. If you have a live demo you need to have a video back up – especially if you haven’t preyed to the the demo gods.

2. Have a gray scale back up of your slides – The connection in Track 2 was a bit off so the colors weren’t on and looked wierd – a gray scal slide deck will help you.

3. Have you own connection equipment – be able to tie into HDMI, VGA, etc. and don’t rely on the conference provider to provide it (most will but better to be safe than sorry)

4. Don’t read your slide – this kills many good presentations. Tell me about what you want and let me read the slides either in-line and when I download them

5. If you are doing live demos or even with the slides for that matter – make sure we can see it.

More in a bit….
