So the other day I did a quick review of Pentest tools android application and that made me think of another app (more like concepts) that I like – App lockers. As there are several to choose from I didn’t want to review/endorse any one, instead I wanted to quickly talk about why I like the concept so much. I have seen many a phone hack lately and doubt that any of these App Lockers could prevent them after all most run as a service that can be stopped but that is not where I see the value. I see the value of these tools as a great way to keep kids/friends out of your more important apps. Ever have your son or daughter ask to play with the phone while you were waiting somewhere? Ever lend your phone to a friend for a quick call when they forgot their phone? These are the scenarios I see an app locker getting it’s value it us another step before someone could access your email.
What is an app locker you ask? Put simply it is an app that lets you secure your apps (any you choose) typically with a PIN or pattern. This is in addition to whatever controls you have in accessing the phone.
